Company Profile

INTRODUCTION

Conversion Products, Inc. was established as a Delaware Company in 1995 and took over the assets and customer base of a long established mechanical manufacturing and service company which had been manufacturing refractory type thermal oxidizers.

DESIGN CHANGES

The new company developed a thermal and catalytic oxidizer design which utilized the newer and more effective ceramic lining in place of refractory.

This change accomplished two goals. First, the change from 120 pound per cubic foot refractory to 8 pound per cubic foot ceramic reduced the weight of the oxidizer by a factor of over 12.

The second advantage of the ceramic lining was the significant decrease in heat transfer. For example, comparing surface temperatures of an 8" refractory lining with an 8" ceramic lining, and an incineration temperature of 1400°F, the surface temperature was typically reduced by over 150°F, and the heat loss by 500 BTU/FT2 of surface area.

We always guarantee that the shell surface temperature will not exceed 125°F.

The next change was to make the primary external surfaces of heavy gage polished stainess steel. This change produces a maintenance-free body allowing the oxidizer to be installed indoors or outdoors with no change in surface appearance over time.

SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT

Due to extensive programming and mathematical experience of the principals, advanced oxidizer design and control programs were developed that are not matched by conventional oxidizer manufacturers.

The programming background allowed us to develop a software program which generates a complete design, including the Bill of Materials and the oxidizer weight, in a matter of minutes. All that is needed is to feed the computer program the normal external conditions, such as in-cineration temperature, flow rate, and starting incoming temperature.

This program allows us to develop a design which exactly matches your physical requirements and the standards called for by your local Air Quality District. Thus, each of our oxidizers is unique to local conditions. We do not resort to building several "standard designs" as so many other oxidizer manufacturers are forced to do.

CONTROLLING THE OXIDIZER

These programming skills also enabled us to offer two levels of oxidizer control. For small, low cost systems, the control system covers the basic safety tasks plus the essential requirements of starting, stopping, and maintaining the incineration temperature.

However, our standard control features a touch screen for operator interface and a program which completely de-skills the operation of the oxidizer. For thermal oxidizers, this level of control is recommended but is not mandatory.

For catalytic oxidizers, our standard control is mandatory. This controller was designed for maximum utility and extraordinary protection of the expensive catalyst. Over the years, we identified every possible operator mistake that could be made in the operation of the catalytic oxidizer. We then wrote software so that these mistakes are caught by the program, thus insuring long catalytic life.

The standard controller has built-in communication capabilities for Ethernet and other protocols.
